My wife Danielle, was shopping in Lidl last week and text me about a new initiative they're running before it was in the news. They have begun to offer 2 x reusable produce bags for £0.69 in an effort to encourage consumers to use these for bagging up their potatoes rather than using a disposable plastic bag. Needless to say Danielle bought a couple and we're now saving on even more plastic packaging waste.
Now we just need retailers to level the playing field between the price of loose fruit and veg vs bagged fruit and veg, which is usually about half the price. This move will help encourage consumers to make the right decision and use less packaging
Well done Lidl!
